Decided to join @BenParkes on a shakeout run that he organized for anyone to join before the Berlin Marathon. The shakeout was more of a race pace run for me but it was fun to see everyone and get some great views of the Großer Tiergarten in Berlin. Join the shakeout virtual run on your treadmill as part of your marathon training or just enjoy the views! Fewer than 24 hours to go before the race!
When you join the shakeout virtual run you’ll see the South Eastern part of the Großer Tiergarten. This park is Berlin’s most popular inner-city park, located completely in the district of the same name. The park is 210 hectares (520 acres) in size and is among the largest urban gardens of Germany. Only the Tempelhofer Park (previously Berlin’s Tempelhof airport) and Munich’s Englischer Garten are larger.
The park is located on the northern and central side of Tiergarten Ortsteil and is bordered, on the northern side, by the river Spree. The little quarter Hansaviertel borders on it at the north-western side and the Zoological Garden is situated on the south-western side. The principal road is the Straße des 17. Juni which ends, in the east, at the Brandenburg Gate. You’ll see just a small part on the shakeout virtual run.
